Redeemer began sending yearly mission teams to Hong Kong in the fall of 2010. The mission teams are sent through the mission sending arm of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in partnership with the Lutheran Church - Hong Kong Synod. Each year, the mission teams have been serving at the same secondary school. Approximately 80% of the schools’ student population and 40% of the staff do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our mission teams have great opportunities through English classes and the continued strengthening of personal relationships to share our hope and faith in Jesus with the students and their families.
Activities that the mission teams engage in outside of the classroom include Bible studies, youth groups, worship services, home visits, student-led tours, school festivals and open houses, and English conversation.
Because of our deepening relationship with the school’s students and staff, Redeemer hosted a team of students from the school we have been serving on their first Wisconsin Student Exchange. From June 22-July 5, 2012, 18 students and 2 teachers came to Manitowoc to serve the community here and continue to build and strengthen relationships with Redeemer. Students assisted us in leading Vacation Bible School and serving the community through other servant events.
2016 Team members are: Nicole Densow, Autumn Densow, Tamra Fricke, Lydia Fricke
…that God would guard and protect the team members from the devil’s attempts to discourage or distract them from completing the mission to spread the Gospel
… for our team bonding and relationships
…that the Holy Spirit would begin to work in the hearts of those that we will serve, so that they would be ready to hear the saving message of Jesus
